A Summary Paper is due not later than the end of Friday of Week Seven.

An 8-10 page Summary Paper should demonstrate your understanding of the concepts covered in this course. The paper should integrate these concepts, and show how they apply to your personal and organizational life.

Using the readings, your weekly written assignments, and team presentations show how you have applied or will apply these concepts in your personal and professional life. Use specific examples from or applications to your experience. It is expected that you will use the first person (I, we, my, our).

Your Summary Paper should include 4-5 of any of these concepts:

o Characteristics of "best relationships"

o Choice of communication channel

o Non-verbal communication

o Barriers to communication

o Gender and Cross-cultural communication

o Effective listening

o Giving/receiving/soliciting feedback

o Negotiating and conflict management

o Goal setting, ethics, and values

Make sure to give personal examples from your life and work. Tell how you feel about it and most importantly, WHY.

Please pay close attention to spelling, sentence structure, and grammar. (But don't get "wigged out" about it!)

Writing the Summary Paper

Must be 8-10 double-spaced pages in length and formatted according to APA style, as outlined in A Writer's Reference.

Must include a cover page that includes the following:

o Adult learner's name

o Course name and number

o Title of paper

o Facilitator's name

o Date submitted

Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.

The body of the paper must include three to four specific academic concepts discovered in the course. Each concept must be addressed in the following way:

o Reference an academic concept gleaned from classroom or reading experience during this course.

o Use APA style, as outlined in A Writer's Reference. A guide to APA style is also provided in the "Webliography" section of this course.

o Provide a context of experience where the adult learner saw this academic concept in operation.

o Readdress the concept and the experience with critical thought. That is, how does this adult learner respond to the content, positively or negatively, and then defend that position?

The paper must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.

The final page must be a Reference List that is completed according to APA style, as outlined in A Writer's Reference.

Prepare the final version of your Summary Paper. Make sure that you include all of the required portions and topics of the Summary Paper.

Format your Summary Paper as a Microsoft Word document.

Submit your completed Summary Paper to me, via the assignment tool below by Friday.
