Evidence-Based Quality Improvement Project Proposal

In conjunction with your preceptor and course faculty, choose a proposed evidence-based quality improvement project in your chosen specialty track. The proposed project should be a needed practice change based on research and application of a chosen theoretical model based upon current nursing and healthcare literature. Examples include: a new innovative teaching strategy to introduce complex nursing concepts to students, a new immunization compliance program, a new database with data analysis and metrics, or a new patient-centered navigation tool to improve health.  Consider the needs of your current practice and what one project, if implemented, could lead to improved outcomes.  Identify your project and prepare a proposal for implementation of this change for the proposed audience.

Please incorporate a brief introduction to the organization and your role in the organization. Again, this should be a new project proposal for your selected organization. You will not implement the changes; however, the project should be an exemplar for you to present to your organization at the end of this capstone course.  This assignment is part of your Practicum Experience and the hours you spend on it are included in your PE hour requirement.  See the MSN Quick Start Guide for an explanation of this.

Evidence-Based Quality Improvement Project Executive Summary

With the guidance of your preceptor and your course faculty, plan your evidence-based practice project and write an executive summary of the project. This executive summary should include a brief introduction, background and significance of the project, theoretical plans, the project’s plan with planned intervention strategies, and an in-depth evaluation plan for assessing the project’s outcome. This executive summary should include multiple appendices that detail key components for implementing this evidence-based scholarly project.

This executive summary should be written as a professional APA manuscript style paper. Your project will be an evidence-based scholarly project that is fully planned and developed ready to implement in your practice setting. Please use one chosen theory and selected QSEN standards for graduate nurses to inform your project. For the selected theory, include a brief summary of the theory, its applicability to the project, and how this theory informed the planning of your intervention. Reflect on the QSEN standards for graduate nurses and select one or two standards that informed your project. Describe how your work demonstrates achievement of these standards. Use the rubric available to help you complete this project.  This template is available for you to follow as you complete the Executive Summary.  You should include all the elements of the template including any appendices listed.

Final Project

The focus of this final project is on completion of your ePortfolio and achievement of the MSN Program Learning Outcomes. Across the curriculum you have been asked to submit your final projects as key evidence of learning in your MSN Program into your ePortfolio. At this time you are asked to critically reflect on your MSN journey, learning, and its application in your work life. Now is the time to summarize in a brief paper your achievement of the MSN program learning outcomes. Please use the MSN program learning outcomes: general and specialization track along with your ePortfolio information to write this assignment. You may include reference to your specialization track professional competencies to articulate your achievements as an MSN prepared nurse. Your paper should be no longer than 5 pages excluding the title page and reference list.   You should use APA formatting & at least three peer-reviewed references in your paper.
