Part 1: An evil genius was present at your birth. Unbeknownst to you or your mom, you were
injected with 100 cubic centimeters (cc) of a docile radioactive material as an experiment the
moment you were born. You have recently discovered the unauthorized addition and want to
know how much of the substance is still left in your body. You craftily figured out the formula
for deterioration of the substance and are ready for some answers.
The formula to determine the amount of the substance left in your body:

Y is the amount of the foreign substance in your body. The variable, a, represents your current
age in years.
Calculate your age to the nearest thousandth. Using this formula, find the amount of the material
remaining in your body today rounded to the nearest thousandth. Share your findings with the
class.

Part 2:
Choose a classmate and respond to their post by calculating the amount of material in their body
two years from today. Show all work involved in your calculation. Keep in mind that Discussion
Boards are meant to be constructive exchanges.
This week we first need to calculate using the exact day of how long we have been alive. For me
this would look like this:
25 345/365=25.945
Next we plug it into our equation:
Y= 100/(25.945)^2 +1
Y= 100/(673.143)+1
Y= 100/674.143
Y= .148 cc
This means I have .148 cubic centimeters of docile radioactive material left in my body.
