 Write a 3 - 4 paragraph discussing ideas, concepts, and information you have found the most enlightening in your study and appreciation of African American History. Which of the stereotypes in your opinion, made the most enduring impressions on the reputation and image of African Americans in our own day and time?  Why do you think so? Does the black community bear in responsibility in the perpetuation of these stereotypical portrayals?  Why or why not?  And when did the enslaved become aware of the Emancipation Proclamation? Discuss their reaction. Discuss the ways African American communities across the South still celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation.
