We bet you don’t know the story we are going to tell you.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin: The Duo That Invented Google
The computer scientists Larry Page and Sergey Brin invented our very favorite search engine. In 1995, the Russian boy Brin and the American boy Page met at Stanford University while they were completing their graduation in computer science. Initially, the two of them didn’t get along. Page took a tour before enrolling at Stanford, and he was with Brin’s group. He found Brin obnoxiously social, and they also had a friendly argument during the trip.
It started with Page’s doctoral project. He had the urge to find a way to organize the web page. When the time came to draw out his theories, he became more ambitious about the project and needed help. Brin used the details of backrub to help pages, a crawler program that determined the numbers of backlinks to a site.
Google was launched on the Stanford website on Aug 1996, where it became a hit. They kept working on it but required computer resources and reached to the Computer department for some help. The makeshift computer lab took place in Page’s dorm room, while Brin’s dorm room was the office and management headquarters.
In 1997, Cornell Professor at IBM, Jon Kleinberg, came to know about Google and visited the young men at Stanford. Kleinberg was impressed by their work. He motivated them to publish an academic paper on the algorithm of PageRank.
The boys were hesitating to risk their careers and start a dotcom business. Though they overcame their fear and published the much appreciated academic paper. Finally, the company was inaugurated in the year of 1998.
Today, Google is the number 1 search engine among the many other search engines available and accounts for more than 70% of all searches. Google also has additional services: Chrome, Docs, Gmail, AdWords, Maps, Analytics, and even Android development. But Google’s most revolutionary and go-to product for everybody is the search engine. You can search for literally anything and everything on the GOOGLE.
