Gods put all their superficial powers and created humans. Humans put all their mental abilities and designed computer. Since past times, we wanted to lead life comfortably. Our purpose was to create things that give big output in small input and save time. The great inventors used their intelligence to develop smart devices such as abacus, calculators, computers, etc.
These devices not only reduce human force but also save our precious time. In earlier times, the computer had specific functions. The rapid changes in the size and features of the computer made it portable for all of us. Today, we can find computers in every sector. It can be found at the railway station, shopping marts, schools, offices, and many other places. It was a breakthrough in the field of I.T.
Perhaps, the credit for the invention of the computer can’t go to a single man. There were a lot of inventors who contributed to it. However, Charles Babbage is called the father of the computer. Why is he called so? Let’s find out.
Charles Babbage: The father of computers
In 1822, Charles Babbage developed the difference engine, the first automatic computing machine. It computes multiple sets of numbers and gives hard copies of the results. Later in 1837, he proposed the analytical engine, the first general mechanical computer. It made use of an arithmetic logic unit, integrated memory, etc.
Sadly, he could never build any of them. After his death, his youngest son, Henry, completed it to perform a basic function. The idea of such a device first strike Charles’ mind; therefore, he is called the father of computers.
Later in 1936, Konrad Zusaee created Z1, the first electro mechanical binary programmable computer. It was the first functional modern computer.
Another inventor named Tommy Flowers developed Colossus, the first electronic programmable computer. The later formed computers were based on the tuning machine developed by Alan Turing. It served as the basis of logical instructions used by computers.
The modern computers that we use today are the revolutionized form of ancient discoveries. It has made our work easy and effective. This single device can do the work of about 100 men, as per the fast-paced growth by great scientists and programmers. Shortly, we can expect more innovation in this field.
