The word Renaissance denotes “rebirth”. It is that period in history that changed that bridged the time between the middle ages and the modern era. Now let us know what is a renaissance and what importance does it hold in world history.

 

 

What is the Renaissance?

The change that happened in Europe, medieval age (Dark Age) to the Modern age. Beginning in the 14th century to last in the 17th century. Where did it emerge?

It started in Italy because in Italy feudalism was a lot less compared to other Europe. Only Italians were more liberated and allowed to challenge the unchallenged, the flow of ideas was more and the printing press was selling books and manuscripts at affordable rates. Merchants were prosperous because of high trade and in Italy there was no centralized kingdom that controls like regions like England and France, it gave a lot of freedom to citizens to Italy to innovate. then it went to France and from there it went worldwide. Moreover, France was the country that supported the advent of the renaissance. And from there on it spread worldwide.

 

 

What importance does it hold?

Renaissance was a bridge between modern and ancient culture. The ideology of Humanism was developed in modern times by Petrarch. Humanism ideology emphasizes giving much more importance to human, that everything was made for humans, human will consume all of it in oppose of popes, religion and churches which was considered everything till medieval age. Renaissance contribution towards giving life new direction and emphasizing creativity is a principle for every human. Giving the world thinkers, scientists and artists whose work is still admired and taken as examples are some of the greatest contributions of the Renaissance age.

 

  Why was it so popular?

Thousands of books were published, and available at cheap rates. Many artists became worldwide popular like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello. Wealth and creativity were overloading, new inventions were taking place everywhere. Beauty was at its peak, countries like England and France started to discover other countries and invading poorer countries to make it a colonize colony. England invented ships so they can travel and trade across the globe. It laid the stone of the European age, European countries found their true power, trade was overflowing and the economy was skyrocketing, inventions that happened in the Renaissance age is considered as greatest in human history.
