One might have wondered about the stars, but do you know that different types of stars exist in our universe? Shocking right? Well, the truth is like any other thing in our universe, stars are also classified based on different characteristics. 


To summarize, there are various types of stars ranging from blue supergiants to tiny dwarf stars. Moreover, there is a lot more about the universe that we need to explore. For now, let’s look at the various kinds of stars that exist in the universe. 


It is a collection of gas that has collapsed from a giant molecular cloud. The protostar phase lasts for about 100,000 years. Due to gravity and pressure increase, the protostar collapses down. 


T Tauri Star

It is a stage in the star’s formation before it becomes a main-sequence star. Stars remain in the T Tauri stage for about 100 million years. Also, this phase occurs at the end of the protostar phase when the gravitational pressure holds the star together. 


Furthermore, the T Tauri stars resemble the main sequence stars, but they are brighter as they are significant. 


Red Giant Star

When hydrogen fuel is exhausted by stars to power themselves, they start burning hydrogen at the surface of the crux. Moreover, the aging star becomes a red giant star and can be 100 times larger than the main sequence star. As a result, they puff up, and a red giant star comes up. 


Interestingly, a red giant star’s life lasts for a hundred million years before it runs out of fuel and transforms into a white dwarf. 


Neutron star

From a colossus star, a Neutron star forms when it’s broken down the core. In fact, the star dies in a supernova explosion, and the remaining core becomes a neutron star. It is 1.4 times the size of the sun. 


After forming, they do not generate extra heat or cool. As the name suggests, a neutron star is an exotic star composed of neutrons. 

Supergiant stars

The supergiant stars are the largest in space. Evidently, they are monsters with dozens of times the mass of the sun. Supergiants consume hydrogen fuel at an enormous rate and consume all the fuel within a few million years. Moreover, stars come in various sizes, varieties, and colors. 


The lifespan of supergiants is 30 million years to 50 million years and 8 to 10 times larger than the sun. Betelgeuse and Antares are the supergiant stars.
