Invasive Species - Choose a species that was invasive. You must familiarize students with this species- evolution of, time
that species existed, location of, and environment of species and the region/continent that it invaded. Explain how
scientists know this. Finally walk students through the steps that led to the invasion by your species and the effects of
this invasion on other species.
Guidelines:
7-10 Power Point Slides (P/F)
Title slide: Has the title of your topic and your name. (P/F)
Organization: Power Point logically covers and clearly answers the fundamental questions of who-what -whenwhere –how and the effects.
Clearly explain everything on your slides. All unfamiliar/technical terms are explained or rephrase. Be able to
explain what your research.
Each slide has a title or question that is to be addressed. (5)
Up to 5 Bulleted points for each slide. (5)
Bullets accurately and briefly summarize main point of each slide (No long copy & pasted sentences). Phrases
rather than wordy sentences; Phrases must make sense. Rephrase to make brief points: Instead of “Researchers
are increasingly recognizing that Jurassic dinosaur species include a broad range in sizes.” say “Jurassic Dinosaursbig size range” (5)
Relevant, compelling and informative photo for each slide; the more specific, the better i.e. Photos must support
and convey information about your topic. Photos are self-explanatory or have arrows to key parts and/or
captions to explain or point out interesting aspect(s). (5)
Photos- as big as possible but not blurry (P/F)
Font of at least 22 for bullets and title (P/F)
Correct grammar and spelling (P/F)
Photos and text credited with website at bottom of slide (P/F)
No Video/music links or distracting special effects.(P/F)
