Remember these statements from the power points:

Warm air is less dense than cold air Humid air is less dense than dry air

Warm air can contain more moisture than dry air

Air pressure and temperature both decrease with elevation As pressure decreases air expands

As air expands it cools As air is compressed it warms up

Go to Fig 3.20, p. 130 and look at the Hadley Circulation Cell, and remember the tropics are hot & wet and 25 degrees North and South are hot & dry (deserts).

Now describe what is going on in the Hadley Circulation cell using all the above statements.

As in discussion 2 this requires a group effort and your grade will include your interaction with others to fully describe the Hadley Cell.
