Use Microsoft WORD and draw a simple basic sketch of the leather belt below.

Only draw the leather part of the belt after it has been cut to length and the holes inserted.

Draw a two-dimensional sketch showing average length & width. Do not draw thickness.

Include the appropriate dimensions on your sketch.

Do not draw the buckle, or the thread, or the shipping box, or the tape.

Type the appropriate information into the two tables at the bottom of this page.

A brief description of the Leather Belt is as follows:

Color: Brown.

Shape: Rectangular, long and narrow.

Material: Leather.

Cut Size: Each belt is cut 1.5 inches longer than its finished size so 1.5 inches can be folded over and sewn in order to secure the belt buckle.

Finished Size: 1.25 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick and between 30 to 48 inches long (average cut length = 40.5" and average finished length = 39").

4 Holes: 3/16 inch round, spaced 1 inch apart with the first hole 2 inches from the end of the belt.

Buckle Hole: 3/16 inch slot 1 inch long in the opposite end of the belt centered 1.5 inches from the end of the belt.

Belt Tolerances:

1. Width: plus or minus 1/16 of an inch.

2. Thickness: plus or minus 1/32 of an inch.

3. Length: plus or minus 1/4 of an inch.

4. Hole Diameter: plus or minus 1/32 of an inch.

5. Hole Spacing: plus or minus 1/16 of an inch.

Brief Description of Purchased Parts:

Leather: Each piece of leather is 1/8 inch thick but the width will vary from 16 to 20 inches and the length will vary from 30 inches to 50 inches. The maximum number of belts and the maximum possible length of belt is die cut from each purchased piece of leather.

Metal Buckle: 1.50 inch wide by 1.75 inches long with a centerpiece that is 1/16 inch round. The centerpiece is inserted through the 1-inch long slot in the belt and then the belt is folded over the center of the buckle and the two pieces of leather are sewn together to hold the buckle in place.

Thread: Heavy-duty synthetic thread designed for use with leather.

Cardboard Shipping Box Size: 22 inches long by 12 inches wide by 8 inches high by 1/8 inch thick. Each cardboard box will hold 28 leather belts wrapped in a oval shape with the belt buckle in the center of the circle.

Tape: 2 inch wide reinforced tape for taping the cardboard shipping box closed.

Learning Module One Assignment:

Use Microsoft WORD to draw a simple two-dimensional sketch of the above leather belt on the WORD document that you downloaded by clicking on the above link.

Follow the instructions on the top of the WORD document.

If you wish you may use a different software package to draw the sketch, such as Microsoft Paint. However, you must copy and paste the sketch into the WORD document. The sketch must be drawn using computer software and then inserted into the WORD document. *

Approximate Scale:
