Suggested Outline for the Project I. Introduction and Thesis Statement The start of the Dark Ages started new movements towards religions and military expansion lead by new powers that took over the Roman Empire. II. Events that Led to the Advancement Romans were losing control though constant battles that they could not keep up with. The collapse of the Roman Empire lead to the dark ages. It was believed that the Roman Empire began to falter do to Invasion by Barbarian tribes, Economic troubles, rise of eastern empire, military spending, government corruption, the destruction that the Huns caused, and new religions. As the Roman Empire begin to fall groups started to move in from the Middle East primarily the Byzantine and other religious groups and they began to take over the Roman Empire. III. Effects of Advancement The Byzantine Empire begin to Rule. Byzantine Empire became essentially Greek in both culture and spirit. The Roman belief in statue Gods were taken out and the religious beliefs began to change The Muslim influence spread quickly as they took over many lands IV. Evolution if the Advancement New religious belief such as Christianity led by Charlemagne known as Charles the Great changed the way religion was viewed and spread Christianity belief through what is now known as France. Fighting began to slow down and people began to settle down in there new kingdoms and the dark ages began to end. New advancements in the Byzantine Navy was created and were known as the first to Navy to employ a terrifying liquid in Naval Ships that could be ignited upon contact with seawater, known as Greek Fire. Charlemagne united most of Western Europe for the first time since the Roman Empire. V. Conclusion With the ending of the Dark Ages a new beginning was created such as, Christianity and Muslim became a well-known faith, and with these new military/ educational advancements were considered new powers that impacted the new world. These new advancements forever changed the way this world is viewed from religion to changes in military capabilities and technology advancements.
