Unit 3 DB: Four Generational Workplace
The 21st Century U.S. Workforce is changing. Once of the major changes is that for the first time in history there are four (4) generations working side-by-side. The four (4) generations are:
The Traditionist/Mature/Veterans (born before 1946)
The Baby Boomers (born between 1946 through 1964 +/-)
Generation X (born 1964 through 1979 +/-) and
Generation Y/Millennium (born 1980 to 2000 +/-)

Unit 4 DB: New Hire/Onboarding Experience
New employment encourages the heart and motivates the spirit to learn and grow...to be part of something bigger and achieve one's goals and purpose. This is a significant point in each of our lives and the hopes and dreams we have of that new job, for our family and future and our willingess to learn and grow.
Discussion Question: Describe the importance of the new-hire or on-boarding experience (academic data required) and how your organization strives to maximize that newcomer spirit. How were you treated on your first day? Did this first impression make an impact on you? Were you made to feel welcome and receive adequate training? Unit 5 DB: Labor Unions
Let's discuss Labor Unions. Give a brief summary on the reasons why they were formed in the early 1900s. The National Labor Relations Act (Wagner Act) is one of the early labor laws that allowed unions to form. What were the reasons that the workers united together to get these laws passed?
After you do your research, do you feel unions are still relevant in today's workplace?

Unit 6 DB: Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation?
For this week's Discussion Board question let's discuss how the compensation system influences employees' motivation, productivity and satisfaction. How important is the compensation system in an employees' productivity? Are there other factors that employers can do to motivate employees? What are your feelings on this subject - intrinsic or extrinsic motivation and if so what is an example?
