This question is base upon this statement:

1. Transnational threats

Brief Summary:Transnational crimes have been continuously increasing and such type of crimes are profit-motivated criminal actions of international nature in which more than one nation involve to execute a crime. Transitional crimes characterized with transnational organized activities such as; drug trafficking, human trafficking, money-laundering, counterfeit goods, smuggling of migrants, wildfire, trafficking in firearms, cultural property, and few other aspects of cybercrime. In general, in this crime, a vast sum of money involve that make direct impact on governance that could be through corruption or the “buying” of elections that result to loss of countless lives, "Transnational Organized Crime – The Globalized Illegal Economy".

Example:In 2009, a drug trafficking recognized as most lucrative type of business for criminals and this business worth the annual value of $320 billion while UNODC estimated that the global cocaine and opiate markets have $85 billion and $68 billion respectively, "Transnational Organized Crime – The Globalized Illegal Economy".

2. Globalization of crime

Brief Summary:After the Cold War, the advancement in globalization practices have impacted the trend of organized crime in unpredicted ways and it has influenced many international crimes. Transnational organized crime (TOC) is most significant example of globalization of crime that include various forms of crime that has been challenging with human rights violation and increased insecurity. To control over the crime that raised due to globalization then there is need for international communities to come together and better understand the way TOC partners are involved in executing broad social changes, "The Globalization of Crime".

Example:According to UNODC report, 127 countries detected victims of trafficking while 137 countries reported having detected victims. Almost 140,000 trafficking victims detected in Europe that generate annual gross income US$3 billion, "The Globalization of Crime".

Issue Importance:If globalization of crime continues then future trend would affect due to global shifts in demographics, migration, urbanization, conflict and economics that would increase the World's challenges due to increased number of interstate conflicts which may result to affect globalization pattern for business and social aspects, "The Globalization of Crime".

3. Principle threats and U.S. response

Brief Summary:In January 2013, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) published a report about terror threats in the United States. Collected data assessment consider the time period between 2001 and 2011 in which a total of 207 terror attacks were recognized in the United States and out of 207 attacks 21 were fatal. In the United States, terror trend has declined by 40 attacks which recorded in first year (2002) to 9 (2011) in the last. More than half of attack were organized to damage property or rendering a system inoperable but did not involve serious explosives. Therefore, the United States have been trending downward after the eve of 2001 attack (9/11 attack) but fatal attacks have increased in last few years. The U.S. respond against these attacks to take quick and corrective action for each particular attack and few times, made changes in its counterterrorism practices that has helped this nation to reduce threats index, "Week 1-Introduction to International Crime".

Example:In 2001, 9/11 terror attack affected the United States with high alert and has settled to tighten the aviation security and made new anti-terrorism policies as well as strengthen counterterrorism strategies that include; to monitor threats both domestically and internationally, intelligence tracking, and few other mechanism to protect the United States from such kind of brutal terror threat, "Week 1-Introduction to International Crime".

Issue Importance:Recognizing principles threats are important because it helps a nation to analyse and understand threats nature against its citizens and can prepare better mechanism to protect in future and respond to the particular terror threat so that to minimize the possible threats in future, "Week 1-Introduction to International Crime".
