The figurative mode of speech is associated with literature and poetry. We make use of the figure of speech in our everyday communication and writing, knowingly and unknowingly. If we look at the European languages, the figures of speech are classified into five main categories, namely:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Figures of resemblance\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It includes simile, metaphor, parallelism, conceit, personification, metonymy, synecdoche, and euphemism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Figures of emphasis<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It includes hyperbole, litotes, climax, paradox, oxymoron, paradox<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Figures of sound<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alliteration, repetition, anaphora, and onomatopoeia<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Verbal games\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pun and anagram<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Errors\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Malapropism, periphrasis, and spoonerism<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Figures of Speeches with Examples<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Alliteration<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repetition of the beginning sounds with the coincident sound<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">E.g., Fred fried frogs&#8217;
